Yesterday’s story about Kekionga’s ghost crocuses, and the way they grow wild in the lawns of the oldest houses in town, made me think about Jessie. She may or may not be a ghost herself, and she lives in a very, very old house, so of course she knows all about the ghost crocus. At least, that’s what Kekionga playground folklore tells us.
(This is a new design for Jessie’s costume. Her outfit is usually a red pinafore over a black dress, but I have been experimenting with this plain dress in a variety of dark colors. The purple dress and pale green scarf are rather appropriate to crocus season, I think.)
