best of the drawing of the day–sibling stripes

drawingoftheday-newnumber6-stripes-blogCool! a drawing of the day!  Where did the weekly best of the drawing of the day feature go?  Have I stopped working on my daily finished drawing project, the one that has gone on for, get this, almost seven years?  The answers are, respectively, “I dunno.” and “Heck, no.”.

So, to new readers, please have a drawing of the day, and to people who have eagerly been awaiting a new installment, please have a drawing of the day.  This one features many of the classic “sketchbook world” elements, the ones I return to over and over: a sibling relationship, a hexapod character, someone using a computer gadget, someone with black fingernails, clothing with stripes, characters sitting on each other, and the most common drawing of the day inking toolkit of the Pentel color brush and the scritchy-scratchy pen.  Plus that old favorite technique of adding details in whiteout over a solid brushwork black.

I’m going to have to remember this woodgraining technique with the wide dry brushstrokes and the fine lines in pen.  Because that bar top looks pretty good.
